The history of Chennai Rawther Thalappakattu begins in the early century; Mr.Sulaiman started selling home cooked Biryani and sold it in almost every street of North Chennai in his bicycle. In 2002 while selling his Biriyani to customer, Mr. A. P. Abdulla, was asked if he would like to start a restaurant to sell his Biriyani. Mr. Sulaiman agreed and what followed was a joint partnership between him, Mr. Abdulla and Mr. Basheer. As a mark of respect to Thalappakattu Hussain Rawther (grand father of Mr.Sulaiman) the eat-outs were named as Thalappakattu Biriyani.
